Too much scale can influence the performance of your steamer, as it will lengthen the time required to cook ingredients. Regular descaling prolongs the life of the steamer.
Note: When too much scale is deposited on and around the heater, you could get repeated 'water tank empty' indications before the water in the water tank runs out. This will not occur anymore if you descale the steamer as prescribed.
