PerfectCare AzurSteam iron

We bought this a few months ago and I thinks it's probably the best iron I've owned. The best feature is the OptimalTemp which means there is no need to adjust heat settings, it's all worked out for you. What this means for me is that my husband's work shirts no longer have scorched collar tips or seams and my ironing takes around half the time it used to. It could be a fraction hotter at times but I haven't found that the quality of the ironing is impeded as a result. I was surprised by the amount of negative reviews this iron has received; I have recommended it to two work colleagues who have also purchased the same model and are impressed by how it performs.

Great iron. Some pros and cons though. Very large and my hands are a little small (I thought they were average!) to handle this iron properly. It's heavy and the handle is larger than my other iron (also a Philips). I also can't reach the spray with my finger while holding the iron - I have to shift my whole hand in order to do this. It's great at ironing anything but personally I think it's hopeless without the steam function ON. Really carefree ironing and it's great to go down the ironing pile without having to work out what to do next to avoid burning anything. Would suit a novice with large hands, dare I say it, a man or a male teenager!! I have a penchant for ironing damp clothes and this is something this iron is definitely NOT good at. It seems to do something to the material detector within the iron and thinks the material is more delicate than it is and therefore reduces the heat, making the ironing ineffective. Prefer my older Philips iron for my damp clothes/sheets. Yes, I'd buy this again, but there could be a few design tweaks for me to make it perfect.

It works and steam is great but the iron is useless when it comes to cotton. Even all that ionic steam is not enough to get rid of the creases when the smart plate simply does not get hot enough fro cotton. Looking forward to replacing it shortly - most likely with an older model of Philips that has worked in the past

I have been very happy with my Phillips irons in the past but am very, very disappointed with this one. I iron mainly cotton items and this iron is just not up to the job. It really doesn't get hot enough to get rid of the creases whether the items are dry or very slightly damp. I have read and followed the guidelines to the letter. I wish I hadn't chosen this model. Cheaper Philips models have given a far better result. A waste of money as far as I'm concerned.

The iron is hopeless for cotton and linen. Totally frustrating on most items - I end up ironing everything at least twice - and still the creases are there! Glad to have come across these reviews which confirm my experience. I will now very belatedly buy a new iron that has a manual heat dial that I can control. I think Philips has discontinued the iron - but if not - don’t be tempted - it is not fit for the job!

Wish I had read these reviews before I bought this iron, instead I relied on Which reviews. the iron is constantly cutting out ie pulses constantly so is not good to iron cotton. this happens so frequently that even a normal ironing pile can take me hours . The instruction book says that the reason for the "Smart" (ha) light pulsing slowly is that the iron has switched to standby mode and you just need to move the iron to reactivate it. This has never worked with my iron. All in all the worst iron I have ever owned and very poor value for the amount it costs

I bought this product just under a year ago and it started well. The anti-calc warning failed a few months ago but despite several attempts to de-calc the steam does not work and the heat is not there. Taking it back.
