reduction in quantification time1

As demonstrated with the X5-1 transducer, quantification time was reduced by 51% with the use of Auto Measure.1

total time saved for acquisition and analysis combined5

3DE image acquisition required less time than the multiple 2DE views for volume measurements. Analysis of the 3DE images was significantly faster than that of the 2DE images. Total time saved for acquisition and analysis combined was 82% in the fully automated mode and 63% even with manual editing.

Frequently asked questions

How does Philips ultrasound AI help reduce repetitive movements?

AI-driven automated measurements, from AI features such as Auto Measure and AutoStrain, reduce the number of keystrokes and clicks6, potentially alleviating the physical burden on clinical sonographers.

What ultrasound AI-enabled applications are available today from Philips?

  • AutoStrain: delivers fast, reproducible 2D strain quantification for the LV, LA and RV**
  • AutoMeasure: fully automated 2D Doppler and length measurements
  • 3D Auto RV: full 3-D quantification for LV, LA and RV volumes and functional assessment
  • 3D Auto MV: dynamic analysis of the mitral valve
  • Dynamic HeartModel (anatomical intelligence with advanced automation): tracks every frame over the cardiac cycle using 3D speckle technology to provide a holistic view of the left heart function**

In addition, we have a robust AI innovation roadmap designed around addressing our customers’ key challenges through advanced automation.

What are some tasks that are driven by AI?

Philips ultrasound AI capabilities span a user’s end-to-end-imaging needs, from image acquisition and selection, to measurement and quantification, to analysis for clinical decision support. Our AI automates elements of this workflow to help reduce variability and increase productivity.

What ultrasound systems are compatible with Philips cardiac ultrasound AI solutions?

Ultrasound AI Solutions technologies are available on Philips EPIQ CVx and Affiniti CVx* dedicated cardiac ultrasound systems and run on the same highly interoperable platform as Cardiovascular Workspace.
*Not all features available on all systems

What is responsible cardiac ultrasound AI?

Philips perspective is that, to be considered “responsible cardiac ultrasound AI,” the AI algorithms should be trained on high-integrity data derived from a significant number of real-world, clinical images. Philips AI uses hundreds of thousands of images that represent a wide variety of demographics and have been acquired by differently skilled users. In addition, applications should meet the highest standards put forth by the FDA and follow stringent quality control protocols including checks and balances based on healthcare AI codes of conduct.

Is Philips a leader in AI?

Philips is committed to the safe and responsible use of data and AI. Our CEO, Roy Jakobs, co-chairs U.S. National Academy of Medicine’s Steering Committee on AI Code of Conduct, to develop a framework to ensure equitable, ethical, safe and responsible use of AI health and healthcare.
