Philips announces high quality LED equivalent of 100W incandescent light bulb

Another key energy efficiency milestone reached in the LED lighting revolution.

Cape Town: Royal Philips (AEX: PHI, NYSE: PHG); has announced the introduction of a high quality LED equivalent to the 100W light bulb. This historic innovation offers the most efficient solution available today and follows the prize winning Philips LED equivalents of 40W, 60W and 75W which have been announced in previous years. Taken together as a unique portfolio these introductions offer the world very significant energy and cost savings in the future.


“Lighting consumes some 19% of all Global energy production” says Andre Dehmel GM Philips Lighting Africa. ”so energy savings of up to 90% on conventional lighting technology will offer much needed efficiencies and cost savings”.    


The technical specs for the Philips MASTER LEDbulb 20W include offering all round light with a tested life time of at least 25,000 hours and a light output of 1521 lumens. It is fully dimmable. It comes in an A60 shape with E27 and B22 caps. It has a Color rendering above 80 and offers warm white light (2700K).


The announcement regarding the new MASTER LEDbulb comes as part of the 2013 Philips Cape Town to Cairo road show. This road show aims to highlight new innovations in Lighting and Healthcare which will help enhance life in Africa.
